The characters.

“Les Misérables” by Victor Hugo, is developed in 2 environments. The first one is the world of darkness, ruled by poverty, theft, prostitution, exploitation, deception and prejudice. On the second environment values and economic misery are replaced for a fight to change predominant values by rich young men who die without achieving their goals. At the epilogue love is the key to salvation.
